Profiroll Health and Safety Guidelines

Preamble

The safety and health protection of employees at work shall be improved by occupational health and safety measures.

Every accident means human suffering for those affected and their relatives, and every employee absence also disrupts operational processes. This in turn affects quality and customer satisfaction and jeopardises the success of the company. Our goal is to ensure that no accidents occur in the company.

Best quality, optimal service, committed and safe working employees as well as safe working conditions and machines open up a promising perspective for all of us.

Art. 1 Responsibility, promotion, prevention

PROFIROLL has developed measures for all operational processes to prevent accidents and impairments and to ensure safe processes, machines and equipment.

As a matter of principle, the management bears responsibility for compliance with the relevant legal regulations.

In addition, each operational manager is responsible for occupational health and safety in his or her supervisory and functional area.

Our managers measure health and safety performance, plan measures to improve the working environment and monitor their implementation and progress.

All employees actively work to create good working conditions and the health and safety of employees is always at the forefront of all decisions to be made. Health, safety and welfare shall be integrated into the design of our facilities, products, services and processes.

Our employees shall be encouraged to identify actual and potentially unhealthy and unsafe conditions, take action and make suggestions and recommendations for improvements and bring them to the attention of management.

Our managers will respond to recommendations and improvements made by staff and follow them up until the risks are reduced or eliminated.

All employees ensure that all visitors or contractors for whom they are responsible are informed of the local safety rules and regulations applicable to their stay.

We permanently work on preventive measures to improve occupational safety.

Art. 2 Instruction and training

We ensure through instruction and training that our employees are able to recognise a safety and health hazard and act in accordance with the protective measures provided.

With our instructions and training we want to ensure and improve the activity-related occupational safety and health knowledge, skills as well as the safety and health awareness of all employees.

Art. 3 Preventive health care

Art. 3 Preventive health care

We ensure the preventive occupational medical examination of our employees with the aim of monitoring the health of employees in the event of work-related hazards in order to be able to derive preventive measures and to detect and prevent work-related illnesses, including occupational illnesses, at an early stage through measures of occupational medical prevention.

Art. 4 Workplace ergonomics

We design workplaces in accordance with ergonomic, occupational health standards in order to maintain the health of each individual employee and to provide them with the best possible protection against work-related illnesses.

Art. 5 Personal protective equipment

The safety of our employees is our highest priority. Each employee is provided free of charge with personal protective equipment appropriate to the occupational activity.

Art. 6 Machine safety

We ensure that our machines, plants and equipment are continuously maintained and inspected in order to guarantee the greatest possible plant safety and to minimise the potential danger for employees in the vicinity of the machine.

Art. 7 Handling of chemical substances

When using hazardous substances, the proper handling of these substances must be observed. Appropriate safety data sheets and operating instructions are available for this purpose and users are regularly instructed in their use.

The chemicals used are registered according to the requirements of the EU chemicals regulation REACH and labelled according to GHS or CLP.

Hazardous substances are stored in accordance with national requirements and technical regulations (GefStoffV - Ordinance on Hazardous Substances, AwSV - Ordinance on Installations for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water, TRGS - Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances).

Art. 8 Emergency preparedness, incident and accident management

The prevention of emergencies in the event of accidents at work is ensured by the training and appointment of first aiders and the provision of first aid material for medical first aid in the individual company areas.

The risk-free use of escape and rescue routes and their adequate signage is ensured throughout the company.

Regular evacuation and fire protection drills are held for emergency preparedness in the event of fire and the prevention of incidents in the event of the escape of hazardous substances. The procedure is described in corresponding emergency plans.

Art. 9 Fire protection

Adequate fire protection is ensured by the internal fire protection regulations. A specially trained fire protection officer is also entrusted with fire protection tasks and is responsible for preventive fire protection. He supports and advises the management on preventive, defensive and organisational fire protection as well as on issues relating to disasters and emergencies.

Employees from the individual company divisions are trained and qualified as fire protection assistants. Employees who are trained and further qualified in their local fire brigade are involved as fire protection assistants.  They support daily preventive fire protection and raise awareness for emergencies.

All buildings are equipped with suitable fire protection devices (CO2 extinguishing devices, mobile fire extinguishers, SHEVs; house alarms).

Regular fire safety inspections are carried out by the fire safety officer, also with the fire brigade and local authorities.
