Profiroll Technology Day for the TU Dresden

Interested students of the 1st and 3rd semester in the diploma course Mechanical Engineering of the TU Dresden used an opportunity to get to know Profiroll as part of the seminar production engineering. This visit has already taken place for the seventh annual time, providing students with practical examples, rolling processes, machines and tools in theory and practice.

After a theoretical introduction to the cold rolling by Mr. Peter Strehmel, Director Process Development-Innovation, the students were able to interact with our Profiroll process engineers at the various stations and also carried out their own first experiments.

On the agenda were machine presentations, technical explanations on process basics and process chains on the following machines:

  • Thread rolling by throughfeed rolling using the example of a precision ball screw on the CNC thread rolling machine 2-PR 30 HP
  • Cold forming of splines using the example of rotor shaft on the spline rolling machine Rollex HP
  • Production of functional surfaces on the profile rolling machine PR 15 HP using the example of burnishing EPS worms
  • Requirements for the quality assessment of the most modern burnishing rolling profiles on the 3D measuring machine Zeiss Prismo 7
